Brian Fox, Certified Personal Trainer

When I decided to become a Certified Personal Trainer, it was driven by a reflection on my purpose and a desire for lifelong learning. How could I better help people experience life right now as well as later in their lives? And what additional insight could I acquire to help me to live my own life to the fullest? When I looked at my family — those older and younger — and thought about acquiring fundamentally useful knowledge to help others and myself, I kept coming back to fitness.

So that’s why I studied and added a CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) to the MBA I received several years ago. Since then, I’ve added an SFS (Senior Fitness Specialist) and GFS (Golf Fitness Specialist) and became TRX Qualified. Unconventional? Perhaps. But the combination works for me and those I support. I’m able to apply the experiences and knowledge I’ve acquired to run a personal training business that helps people with their health and well-being. Learning how the body performs — or doesn’t — and how it adapts is fascinating to me. They’re insights I enjoy bringing to clients to help them achieve personal goals, experience life fully, and ultimately bfoxfit.

For my own training, I tend to focus on stabilization endurance, strength endurance, and hypertrophy. I like to approach my cardiovascular training through circuit training program design along with walking, running, and swimming. To keep track of some key metrics in my progress, I like using the workout and activity apps on the Apple Watch. And at home, I like to find fun ways to involve my two daughters in fitness activities and support my wife with her training.
